A commercial dewatering pump is a centrifugal pump used to move clean water from one location to the next. It’s often used at construction sites, buildings, and anywhere there is unwanted water that needs to be removed. As the video explains, a commercial dewatering pump is used for clean water.
The water can have some sediment in it, but too much can damage the pump. This is why you also need a properly sized suction strainer to filter out larger debris that could damage the pump.
It’s also important that you don’t exceed the rated head lift when using your commercial dewatering pump. For example, if you need to pump water up an 80-foot hill, you can’t use a pump with a rated head of 40 or 50 feet; it simply won’t have the lift necessary to remove the water. You also need to make sure that you use the proper suction hose with a dewatering pump. If the pump calls for a hose with a diameter of two inches, a one-inch hose will burn the pump out quickly.
